I absolutely love it when you play your accordion….your original music reminds me of a time worlds ago when life was so much simpler. Peace and love.

What an incredibly clean engine room! I'm impressed. That takes a lot of work to clean and paint and lube and maintain. And those bi-directional props are beauties too. My 1939 wood boat (40-feet long with two gasoline engines had two propellers (opposite turning or bi-directional). My boat also had two rudders, one behind each propeller ... but the fellow in THIS video talks only about "THE rudder" as if there is only one rudder, when the boat has two engines and two props. Hmmm?? And ... yes, listen to and watch those engines, beauties indeed. And remember that that's what's happening inside your own engine too, on a smaller scale. 🙂 And that's why you need to maintain your own engine (which YOU do, you are excellent, Heidi) ... keep the oil full, replace the oil OFTEN, keep water coolant flowing, replace the air and oil and coolant filters at least as often as recommended (more often is better). Keep your engine clean so a technician can see where it's leaking (if it's leaking). Ha! no, not setting sail ... we're going cruising! Steaming up the canal! What a super cruise. And with a 7-foot draft according to those bow markings, the Danny probably needs to stay in the middle of the waterway. LOL! Heidi, you could say that you are a "HOOOOOOT"! What a gorgeous boat, engine rooms, and passenger rooms. What a gorgeous and well-produced video. Thank you.

A lot of nostalgia for me. My Dad was a stoker mechanic in the navy and I got to visit a few engine rooms from exactly the vintage of the Danny.

Love all your videos, Heids, but this is among the most mental ones in a good while. Seeing the old-timers work the engine like an old pipe organ had my jaw on the floor. The chugging clockwork, the massive, hungry stoves, the calling system. That, is, insane. Makes me think of what life was like on the deepest decks of the ocean liners some 100 years ago...

A great documentary. Heidi, you have outdone yourself. Very interesting story, amazing camera work, good interviews with the crew and guests. nice information and views of the engine room. I would be glad to take a steamy day on the river with Heidi any time.
